GOAL:  To indelibly improve the health outcomes and reduce the health disparities of Marion County residents by supporting the collaboration of diversified programs that promote, educate, and implement evidence based principles of nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle modification through shared community and corporate engagements.

OLDER ADULT WORK GROUP

OBJECTIVE 1:   Increase healthy food and beverages consumption, reduce tobacco exposure, and increase physical activity in Marion County residents 65 and over.

Action Step 1: To increase physical activity and create a community of accountability for older adults by utilizing the UP2 Jawbone activity tracker system and the Timex pedometer at the Silver Springs Shores SDA Church during the 8-week CREATION Health Education Program.

Action Step 2: To provide education and ongoing support using the eight (8) week CREATION Health Education Program to 70 participants at Silver Springs Shores SDA Church and 15 participants at Marion County Senior Services. Principles taught: Choice, Rest, Environment, Activity, Trust, Interpersonal Relationships, Outlook, and Nutrition.

YOUTH WORK GROUP:

OBJECTIVE 1:  Strengthen physical activity and limit sedentary activity in youth

Action Step 1: To increase and measure the physical activities and BMI of six (6) second grade classes at College Park Elementary School through the B.E. S.M.A.R.T. Program’s utilization of the Sqored Gear Up and Go system.
